What is the teacher to
child ratio? We adhere to
all State of Nevada regulations for all teacher to child ratios,
although we may lower those
ratios where the number of children per teacher appears to be
too high and unmanageable.
What type of background do the teachers have? Each
applicant
is interviewed by the Directors. We want to make sure
that the candidates are people who are able to instill building blocks
for success into our students. Work related and personal references are
then checked and a full background check is completed. For the teachers
with education degrees transcripts are required. Each staff member is
required to be First Aid/CPR certified and must complete classes in
child abuse recognition and reporting and signs of illness before 90
days of employment. Additionally 15 hours of continuing education must
be completed each year. Moreover, Lighthouse Academy seeks people who
are dedicated to living their lives for Christ, want to guide children
to HIS light and believe that the Bible is God's word and
standard for faith and daily living.
What safety measures do you have in place?
At Lighthouse Academy in order to gain entry into the building parents
are provided with a unique pin number to open the door. Only parents
with the number will have access to the building. All additional people
authorized to pick up will have to show ID and will be escorted to the
child's classroom. At Lighthouse we practice a monthly fire
drill
and a quarterly shelter in place/disaster drill.
What will a typical day be like for my child?
A typical day depends on the age of your child. When you visit
Lighthouse Academy you will notice a daily schedule posted for the
seahorse room to Pre-K . The daily schedule pertains to the age of your
child. To balance fun and rest with learning activities a
general
day will include:
Circle time
Bible time
Morning and afternoon snack
Outside play (weather permitting)
Rest time
Math and Phonics (older groups)
Free Play
