History of South Hills Church Community

During the summer of 2000, a team of people moved to southern Nevada from the Bay area to start a new church.  Their goal was to create a healthy, exciting church for the Henderson area. Because this area was growing so quickly at that time, they felt this area needed many new churches. Their goal was to create a healthy, exciting church for the Henderson area. They felt blessed to be part of making this happen.

South Hills Church Community established itself legally with a constitution, bylaws and the choosing of elders.  We are part of the Central Pacific District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Sacramento, California, and members of the Willow Creek Association.

One of South Hills Church’s biggest dreams is for the children of this community to have a God-centered environment to live and grow up in. When an opportunity presented itself to purchase a building big enough for a daycare/preschool center and a worship center, we knew that God was leading us to fulfill this dream.

Today, South Hills Church Community and its leaders look back and see how God has worked in their lives and the lives of this community. By faith, many obstacles have been overcome and South Hills Church Community, a God-centered church, has been built.  Lighthouse Academy continues to flourish and to meet the needs of families by providing a safe, secure, spirit filled, God centered environment where children can grow spiritually, socially, emotionally and academically.
