Have you ever wondered what your baby is thinking? Or why your baby is crying? The Baby Signs® Program teaches babies to use simple, easy-to-do gestures for communicating with their parents and caregivers. These gestures or “signs” represent an item or concept, like “cat,” “eat,” or “all gone.”

Lighthouse Academy has successfully completed the Baby Signs® Early Childhood Educator training to become a certified Baby Signs® center.

Calling all moms! Imagine a place where paid child-care workers play with your kids while you mingle with other moms without any interruptions. There would be guest speakers, stimulating conversations, discussion groups, crafts and always something good to eat. Too good to be true? Well, there is such a place, at South Hills Church Community. 

The group is called MOPS, which stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. Now, don't think you have to have a preschooler to join; children from newborns up to kindergarten are welcome.

Today more than 110,000 moms attend 4,000 MOPS meetings throughout the United States and 29 other countries. MOPS of South Hills meets the third Monday of the month at 6:30 PM. While the moms meet, the children are entertained with story time, snacks and other activities, depending on their ages.

So if you have a little one 5 or younger and are looking for supportive friends, meaningful fellowship and good food, try a MOPS meeting. It just may change your life.
